Tulsa is the most populous city in the state of Oklahoma, and one of its fastest-growing. The city was incorporated on June 6, 1898. Tulsa County comprises an area of some 726 square miles, featuring a long, thin shape that extends from east to west and is surrounded by smaller counties in northeastern Oklahoma. In 1901 Tulsa became the first incorporated municipality in what would become Oklahoma.

The city’s early economy was based on the most productive one in the nation-the oil industry. In the 1930s, Tulsa’s oil field became the most productive in the United States. Although agriculture remained important to Tulsa throughout the twentieth century, its economy grew to depend more on tourism and financial services. Today, thanks to major revitalization projects like River Parks (an entertainment and shopping area along downtown Tulsa’s Arkansas River waterfront), downtown Tulsa is experiencing a rebirth as an entertainment destination.

The city’s economy can be attributed to the many home-grown businesses that thrive in it. One such business that is particularly noted is Precision Sign and Design that specializes in car wrapping services, signages and personalized gifts. It’s certainly worth your attention!

Baseball & Tulsa History Intertwined In Greenwood

The Tulsa Drillers, a minor league baseball club in the Texas League, has been part of the Tulsa community since its inception. The Drillers play in a modern ballpark called ONEOK Field and have become known around the world as a model franchise. In 2005, they were voted team of the year by minor league baseball writers from across the country and have been recognized as one of only five teams to have won back-to-back championship rings.

The Drillers have been in Tulsa since 1993, after relocating from Waco. The team’s owners hoped the move to Tulsa would not only provide a new fan base but also revitalize the Drillers fortunes after the team suffered poor attendance and had difficulty fielding a competitive squad in its last season in Central Texas. The Drillers success on the field and at the gate far surpassed expectations.
